Katie Colyer, owner of Crystal Clear Creations, has been involved in the cattle business since she was born. Growing up on a registered Hereford and Angus operation in Bruneau, ID has helped her get to where she is today.
In high school Katie was a very active member of the Rimrock FFA Chapter. She completed record books on her Hereford and Angus cattle and was selected the 2000 State Star Farmer. She then went on with her project to the National FFA Convention and was a Beef Production Proficiency Finalist and won a trip to Costa Rica.
As an active member of the National Junior Hereford Association Katie exhibited cattle at eight junior nationals and attended fourteen. During those years she served many officer positions in the Idaho Junior Hereford Association and also did an internship with the American Hereford Association during the summers of 2003 and 2004. The internship was a great learning experience and allowed her to assist in planning the Junior National Hereford Expo and PRIDE Convention.
Katie attended the University of Idaho from 2000-2003. At the University of Idaho she served as a College of Agriculture and Life Sciences student ambassador and was the Agriculture Student Affairs Council President. Katie was also interested in web design and took a few classes to help her with maintaining her families website www.hereford.com. Katie then joined the COWS team as a sales representative and also conducts website updates.
In 2003 Katie transferred to Kansas State University and graduated in 2004 with a degree in Animal Science. From 2004-2012 Katie worked at the Idaho Cattle Assoc. doing meeting and event planning. In 2007 she began working for LiveAuctions.TV broadcasting production sales over the internet to help breeders market their animals. This connection fit well with her experience in photography and producing video clips. Katie’s interest and experience in the beef industry and seeing the need for better marketing strategies helped her create Crystal Clear Creations. Katie also sees DVD production very useful for family events such as weddings and anniversaries.
